The Disappearance of Kristyn Richerson

Kristyn Richerson vanished on May 25, 2018, and if you’re wondering why you’ve never heard her name before—same. The 21-year-old from Muskogee, Oklahoma, just poofed after supposedly walking away from her own home. You know, as one does, casually disappearing off the face of the Earth without a phone, money, car, or shoes. Totally normal.

She lived with two roommates, and naturally, the cops questioned them. A lot. Even went as far as filing John Doe murder charges after one of the roommates allegedly said the other stabbed her and buried her in the yard. Authorities found disturbed soil and the smell of decomposition but not Kristyn.

So let’s break this down:

  • Girl goes missing.

  • Roommate #1 accuses roommate #2 of murder.

  • Police dig and sniff and find… nothing.

  • And everyone just… moves on?

The Muskogee PD says they "didn’t have enough to move forward." Cool cool cool. Just a murder accusation and some suspicious yard dirt—no biggie. Meanwhile, Kristyn is still missing, and her family is still begging for answers in a case colder than your ex’s heart.

Were the roommates suspects? Not officially. But if you’re the last people to see her alive, and your story includes murder and shovels, I’m not exactly giving you a gold star in trustworthiness. Just saying.

This case reminds me a little bit of another Kristyn, Kristin Smart. We’re pretty sure we know who, when, and how, but for some reason the police just can’t put the pieces together. If this case had received half the attention of Kristin Smart’s, I’m not sure we would still be sitting here six years later with zero arrests and a missing woman. But hey, what do I know—I’m just a murder-obsessed baker with a shovel ready for these roommates.
